What is it?

Semaglutide belongs to a class of medications known as GLP-1 RAs.

It mimics the GLP-1 hormone, released in the gut in response to eating.  These hormones are released by the small intestine after eating, aiding in digestion and appetite suppression.

Through a physiological process the medication helps move sugar from the blood into other body tissues where it is used for energy.
